An Excerpt from “Ballade of the Bookworm”

One gift the Fairies gave me: (Three
They commonly bestowed of yore)
The Love of Books, the Golden Key
That opens the Enchanted Door;
Behind it BLUEBEARD lurks, and o’er
And o’er doth JACK his Giants kill,
And there is all ALADDIN’S store, –
The Books I loved, I love them still!

Take all, but leave my Books to me!
These heavy creels of old we bore
We fill not now, nor wander free,
Nor wear the heart that once we wore;
Not now each River seems to pour
His waters from the Muses’ hill;
Though something’s gone from stream and shore,
The Books I loved, I love them still!

Andrew Lang

I fell in love with writing in fourth grade and haven’t regretted it since. Unfortunately, I’ve become neglectful of that love, except for college assignments the past few years. My love of reading came much earlier and hasn’t left me, nor have I abandoned it. One hope I have is to share with you some tips I’ve learned about writing over the years, as well as some of the books I’ve read. I also invite you to share with me, so we can all learn together!

I’m a college student – a junior at the University of Central Arkansas. I’m majoring in Linguistics, and minoring in Creative Writing. I knit, crochet, and manage two Etsy shops – KnitWit’s Knits & Crochet, and 2ParaDucks.

I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Have some thoughts to share? Awesome!
